Hot and Sour Mackerel



Ingredients:

4 mackerel
6 red chilies or 1 ½ tsp. chilly powder
1 ½ tsp turmeric powder
1 cup grated coconut
Small marble size ball of tamarind
1 ½ piece of ginger
1 clove of garlic
6-8 dry bhirand (cocum)
12-15 teffel fruits
3 green chilies (cut lengthwise)
Salt to taste.

Method:

Cut each mackerel into 4-5 pieces. Apply salt and keep to marinate for 10 minutes and then wash.

Grind coconut, red chilies, turmeric, tamarind, ginger and garlic to a fine paste. Mix this paste with 1 ½ cup of water. Mix mackerel pieces, green chilies, salt, teffal fruit, and dry bhirand, simmer until gravy thickens.

Ready to eat Hot & Sour Macerel.
